Appeal: Sexual Assault - Woodhouse Lane / Blenheim Walk

Tuesday, 27 July, 2010

City and Holbeck CID are appealing for witnesses and information following an alleged sexual assault near to the junction of Woodhouse Lane and Blenheim Walk.

An 18-year-old woman was walking along Woodhouse Lane towards the city centre at around 10.20pm on Wednesday when she was approached by a man walking in the opposite direction near to the Eldon pub.

The man followed the woman down towards the city centre and made sexually suggestive comments towards her, before dragging her into the bus stop at the junction of Blenheim Walk and Woodhouse Lane and sexually assaulting her.

The woman broke free before running into the middle of Woodhouse Lane and then into a nearby pub, where she raised the alarm.

The man is described as white, around 25 to 30 years old, around 5'4" tall, of skinny build, with mousey brown short cropped hair, and dirty brown teeth. He was carrying a clear plastic bag and eating a banana.

Officers are keen to trace anyone who can help to identify the man or who may have witnessed the incident, particularly any passing motorists who may have seen the woman run into the road.

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Neil Bottomley via 0845 6060606.
